We Are The Fort Benjamin Harrison Steering Committee
Why We Do it!
The Fort Benjamin Harrison Steering Committee and The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) are keeping history alive. By returning World War Two re-enactments and living histories to the Fort, we document the history of the brave men who fought to preserve our rights and freedoms, so that their memory and sacrifice will not be forgotten. Our goal is to be as authentic as possible in our uniforms, equipment and appearance while honoring those veterans who served and died to preserve the rights and freedoms we enjoy today. WE WILL NEVER FORGET!
What We Do!
Our 2nd Annual event is scheduled for 9/19-21/08. Scenario is ETO Western Front. Pre-Registration is mandatory (Deadline is September 12,2008)!
The park is located at 5753 Glenn Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46216. PLEASE NOTE: Do not use computer mapping directions or mailing address, they are incorrect. Due to a quirk it will land you in the wrong place. Please call park direct at 317-591-0904 for directions. Click here for printable map.
An infantry tactical battle will take place at night on 9/19 & 9/20 and during the day on 9/20. Living History time lines and a public battle will be in place Saturday for those re-enactors choosing not to participate in the tactical battles. Event on Saturday will run from 10:00am – 4:00pm. The IDNR will be providing firewood, water and hot meals to re-enactors on Saturday.
Period camping, vehicles, artillery and weaponry will be permitted in the park during event. Firing of weapons will be allowed until 11:00pm. NOTE: PARK GATES CLOSE PROMPTLY AT 8:00PM! ABSOLUTELY NO PASSES!
BARRACKS are available and will hold 80 people (on a first come, first served basis). Limited space is available for rent at The Garrison Restaurant on Post. Reservations can be made by calling 877-563-4371.
Vendors of WWII or related militaria and food vendors are welcome! Booth space is available for ten dollars. If interested, please contact Jeff Cummings at JCummings@dnr.IN.gov
